I had a car shipped to me (New York) from Louisiana with an enclosed carrier that is not a broker. What I can add to what has been said already is:

1. Definitely go with an enclosed carrier that specializes in high priced cars (most do, I think), don't think about any other solution
2. If possible, to try and get a better deal see if they will be flexible with the pick up date. Tell them a general idea when you need it picked up and they may be able to fit it into a truck that they will have in the area. It will be found money for them and they may cut you a break.

I used a firm called Horseless Carriage. Their website says "nationwide" but since they're based in the North East I tend to think they're not a feasible solution for you.

Spend the $$ now and you'll have peace of mind and not have to deal with all the hassle of getting your car back to where it was when you bought it.
