I got V12s after the OEM Contis and the difference was night and day on the ride home. Go-cart handling was gone. Delayed lateral response (on 19" wheels no less). Acceleration grip was good when new, but got progressively worse as they wore. At the wear bars, grip was almost like driving on a gravel road. I could throw the car around way easier, almost scary.
I had the same thoughts as you before I had this experience.
