Clarification on the rules - I thought we were going to have a maximum edge size, not a single resolution? 1024x768 is such a terrible aspect ratio for photography, IMO (and I would imagine that others agree)... it's much too square. Can we make the rules so that the maximum edge size is 1024px or something? So for example, people can submit a 1024x1024 image, a 1024x500, 500x1024, etc... as long as the longest edge is 1024px?

For example, if someone shoots a nice photo, imaged/framed perfectly in a 35mm film aspect ratio (3:2). Resized so that the longest edge is 1024px would result in an image that is 1024x683, which would not be allowed per the current rules. So in order to change it to 1024x768, the image would have to be cropped at the sides to make it more square, which can change the overall presentation/feel of the photo.

Here's an image that was shot on an DSLR in 3:2 aspect ratio (35mm film size), resized so that it's smaller but still the same native aspect ratio:

Here's the same image that was cropped and resized in order to follow the same aspect ratio as 1024x768:

As you can see, 1024x768 aspect ratio makes the photo too square and looks less like a traditional photo. This is just my inner photographer talking. If I'm the only one that wants to be able to submit in a native photography sized aspect ratio then no big deal, I just imagine that others might want to submit their stuff with the same framing/aspect ratio as shot, instead of having to crop off the sides to get to a weird non-photography size.
