I had the same idea about modifying the Mountek--it'll be much more secure and that'll probably help with accelerometer data noise. I'm thinking that it also might be a good idea to fashion a short tether of some sort from coated steel cable--in the event of a major off, eliminating the prospect of a 1-2 pound projectile in the car sounds like a good idea for a guy who runs with the helmet visor removed...
