I started autocrossing my car last year with the intention to never track it. Well, that was befrore I watched a NASA event at Road Atlanta in December. So, fast-forward a few months later, and I ran my first HPDE event with NASA over the weekend. It was a blast, and I'm totally hooked!
I was a complete noob and a little nervous at first. However, by the end of the day on Sunday, I was flying. I only gave one point-by all day Sunday, and that was to a Vette that I had already passed and when I hit traffic coming into turn 7.
Now I (sort-of) know how much speed my car can take through the turns, and I'm sure I could still be a lot faster. I did get it up to around 130ish on the back stretch, but without a cage, that's all I'm comfortable doing for now. It is fun to just "cruise" at 130 though.
I can't wait to get out there again. It was a lot of fun.
