I'm the complete opposite. I try to get 10-12 autocross events in, and this year I'll do my first track event.

I'm only on my 3rd year, but I think autocross involve some braking, where you're full on brakes...but it's just for a second, sometimes 2. This is because the fastest you're going is only top of second gear.

Some braking is indeed though is tapping or partially braking to transfer weight from one side to another, plant the front end...etc.

Autocross does happen extremely fast compared track (I have ridden with many friends), but it takes time getting use to. You can't really look 2 turns ahead on the track, autocross you kinda have to.

Time is much more important too on autocross IMO. My runs were 0.6 seconds apart from beginning to end on the front course (starting at cold tires), and the backwards course I was 0.3 seconds apart (with at temp tires).
