I'm working on something myself. Going to keep the factory system as is but adding a 10" shallow mount sub in the trunk along with an amp to power it. I' building a custom battery cover to replace the current one out of 3/8" plastic then mounting a box to it for quick install and removal...the box is low enough to let the sunshade still work but big enough to give the minimum volume of 0.35 square feet the pioneer sub needs. Then attaching a line out converter to the speaker wires. Should be done in a month or so...taking my time so I get it right.
All this will be fully reversible other than tapping into the speakers for the Line Out Converter. So if I choose to put it back as is...
I'm by no means a music buff or anything like that...just the stock Z4m system in my opinion creates no base.
