Alright. My work is all done. Getting to it involved removing the entire transmission tunnel from the car. That means everything from the convertible controls to the rear storage compartment had to be taken it. Quite the pain especially with some carpet preventing access to screws, but it's all done.

Getting the module out was fairly easy with all that removed, it was just held in with 3 10mm bolts and pulled right out. All in all, about a 3 hour job removing everything, and 2 putting everything back in. The module had to be coded at a bmw specialist, but other than that, nothing finicky.

Here's the module, with it removed, and the problem connector. It seems to be that water corroded the plug(from a faulty drainage canal we are all familiar with) and one of the pins broke off because of that.

Glad that all my problems have gone away. I was having issues with controlling the top, all my light related stuff wasn't working(blinkers), and sometimes even my car wouldn't stop.

I was quoted $2400 for the shop to do the maintenance entirely, but I did it myself. Module was $900 and coding was $180.
