I did measure as VRM wheels suggested. It looks like I can use 15mm on the from and maybe go to 20mm on the rear as the rears don't have the same turn angle load issues. I was happy to find that the gap is equal side to side.

This was definitely not the case on the 944 that I raced for 5 years. After having the rear suspension in and out of that car several times, I determined that the 10mm variation in the rears was due to a difference in the flare of each rear fender. I was told by several knowledgeable Porsche builders that this was a not uncommon production variance. Glad to see that the BMW is square.
