My Z4MC originated from the U.S. as well. With the VIN, my service advisor at BMW Toronto can only retrieve warranty claims record.
I called Towne BMW in Buffalo (where it was first sold at) and they were able to obtain service records.
It is possible that there was no warranty claim on your car and the previous owner did not have it serviced at a BMW dealership.
