Thumbs up

wow Im so lucky I have the exact same problem

2.5I 2003 also had a MINOR front accident.

Car smokes from the front and smells like the engine is burning but the temp needle stays in the middle! the car throws "thermostat value below threshold" code consistently after clearing it more than 5 times. also noticed the coolant fluid was almost empty

I was about to start replacing the thermostat, as the usual problem is that the thermostat is stuck open. guess not?

So help me understand how you fixed the problem? is the problem fixed by running that test ? or is it by flushing the coolant? or something else?

there are a lot of z4 overheating threads !

coincidentally no coolant flush has been done on this car in the last 4 years at least.
