currently running 225's on all 4. these were the tires i had previously when i was running 8" on all 4 but they will need replacing soon, and thus wanted to take advantage of wider tires.

yea i believe it... i was led down to this path when i read many e46 non-m owners saying yes it could be done, and yes they've done it. for some reason i thought our clearance, offsets, etc were similar. thanks everyone.
