My first name is Joseph: "jophish" was how the neighbor's daughter (mis)pronounced my name when we were toddlers - the nickname stuck, and when I first registered for AOL way back in the mid 90s, I adopted the "phish" from the band instead of "joe-fish" (not really a fan of them, just liked the spelling) The 17 was tacked on because someone had already created an AOL account for "jophish"
