Also, I don't remember seeing a coolant temp gauge on the car. Unless I'm smoking crack and don't know about it, I'm 100% certain there's no coolant gauge. Is this a secondary, aftermarket gauge you installed? If it is I take it back.

There's an OIL TEMP GAUGE, which on a super hot day, being driven the p*ss out of, it's not out of the realm of possibility for the oil temp to climb a little. I've seen as high as 260ºf, which is just a hair north of middle, on a day where ambient temp is as high as 116ºf and tarmac temp as measured by a infrared thermometer at 160ºf.
