Plenty of them. I used to own a 996 GT3, 996Turbo & 997S (before my wife and I got a baby and I was forced to grow up myself) and have test-driven base 997, 997GT3, 997 Turbo, 997 GT3-RS. I've pretty much driven them all. And by test-drive I don't mean a 20 minute drive along the block. The dealer always lets me have the car for at least an entire day, if not over the weekend.
If you're going to spend that kind of money to get a 997 already, what's a few more dollars to get the 997S?
