Currently running Continental DW (275/30/19). I was wondering about fitting 285 (same DWs to be safe) onto my 19x9.5 et 25 wheels as well (for better rolling diameter matched to the front 245/35/19) on the next set. This weekend, I had tried to place full or close to full compression on the rear and saw about 10mm space available to the fender. Inner clearance is a bit more at about 15mm. I'm on standard suspension with no fender roll.

Looking at specs on TireRack, I had noticed that going from 275 to 285 (same Continental DW), the section width gained 0.5", which may make me rub slightly at compression, but I was surprised to see that you'll actually lose 0.1" in tread width? This doesn't make sense and had me wondering how accurate are the measurements from TireRack in reality? If that's really the case, I'll be shooting myself in the foot for losing contact patch going to a wider tire?

I think this experiment may sway me to stay at 275 and leave some wiggle room for size width variations between tire manufacturers/models in the future.
