I hear where you are combining from.
I know some 19s have improved significantly in recent years & the performance gap has narrowed slightly.
My reference was more to track performance, and from experience with many different wheels, including high end 19 Rays on my M roadster (among other 19s on other cars) that there is a significant difference.
It's not just the weight of the the wheels, it's where the mass is located.
A large percentage of wheel mass is in the rim itself, and by moving that mass further out it would affect performance even if the wheel/tire package combined weight was identical.
The other factor is a much better tire selection.
