Good luck with your sale; however, I say make it your race car
The way E36 race cars AREN'T selling for decent money these days I can't justify selling it for pennies on the dollar to turn a 4 year old car that is a cherry into a race car. I could spend 20K on it and go ball it into a wall on the first test lap. I did the math and converting this car to club racing standards would cost a small fortune. The other problem, and it's a huge one, is the car doesn't fall into a good class with BMWCCA and I don't want to win national champion because no one else is in the class. It would make one hell of a great race car but it would be smarter to pick one up that got rear ended or fire/water damage.

Wait a minute...your car needs the interior stripped, roll cage, fire system, and a few other odds and ends and it's there. You are SO much closer than I am you might as well just take a few more steps.
