That is some shoddy wiring. If I were you I'd probably try to rewire the whole system.
It seems like they put in the headunit then wired it all the way to the rear of the car and connected it to the stock wiring harness that connects to the stock amp. Blue taped up wire is most likely the amp turn on lead from the new head unit.
