I'm not sure what a "hardtop convertible 350 is", but I'm assuming you mean one of the non-M variant z4s.
The car will be disabled in the snow with the standard tires, but will get around fine on snow tires. Make sure you get one size thinner than the original ones though. You will experience the rear of the car sliding around a bit, but 99% of the time its nothing scary and you will be in total control. As long as the snow is clearing the height of the bumper, you'll be OK
Honestly, I wouldn't bother with a newer, $20k car just for its snow abilities. I'd at least TRY a z4 with good snow tires. If all else fails, get a used subaru impreza for the snow
