For a street car I'd do the latter, and do a single merge like I linked above or just get the SS exhaust that does the same. For bump in "power", I'd switch up the final drive to a 3.73 auto (assuming you got manual).

Yeah not getting euro style headers, due to living in California the emissions nazis of America. I replaced the stock 3.23 final drive for a 3.46 final which is a small bump in acceleration approximently 400 rpm increase.
