I was looking at that as well, and would prefer the clean OE look.
I also like that it would not interfere with bumper removal.
Dealing with the odd shape would not be easy though.
Part of the problem is that all the support for that OE funnel is at the back , so if you cut it off to integrate the hose connection you lose the OE support.
......still haven't ruled it out though.
