Have you thought about disconnecting the BPV's discharge line, and capping off the connection on the intake side? That might give you an idea of how a BOV would sound.

As for the extra air going into the intake, I don't want it. It's been compressed so it's hot. I might install an IAT gauge just to see how much intake temps are raised with a BPV versus a BOV.
