It cools the intake charge, increases octane and steam cleans your internals keeping them virtually like new. We had one on virtually every Vortech system with the LX crowd. Is the ESS version that much different?
They don't want people messing with their kit, plain and simple. Which is understandable, people start messing with things it makes diagnosing harder or they might make problems or break stuff.

Like lets say you had a misfire, you try to diagnose it with them and go through tons of tuff only to find out you're spraying too much methanol causing the misfire (it can happen).

But yea it's pretty safe.
