Sometimes I think muscling this gearbox is part of the experience other times it feels a bit much. The 1-2 shift grind is definitely not welcome period anytime although these days I am much better at consistently driving "around it".
I know thats all a bit wishy washy but those are some of my thoughts.

I know what you mean. I do pretty well when I’m just driving
this car and when I drive it hard. However, on days when I’m driving our GTI and then switch to the M, I almost have to relearn my shift technique.
