Not certain, but I think you might be talking about the vent tube. In this photo I'm pointing to the vent tube. Not familiar with batteries sold by BMW parts departments, but some AGM batteries have no provision (or need) for a vent tube connection.

Yes that's what I'm talking about. I guess I will call the dealer tomorrow and confirm that's the case.
