HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!
Pretty much what I'm thinking. For me Father's Day has long been a day when dad does whatever dad wants to do, *not* a day when dad endures a boring meal and gifts he won't use.

I used to go to the US Pro cycling race in Philly on Father's Day for example. My neighbor (also a dad) and I would get up early, drive to Valley Forge Park, and ride the rest of the way in. We'd find a perch on the Manayunk Wall for the first few laps. Then we'd spend the rest of the day doodling around the city watching the race from various venues, ending up at the start/finish in time to watch the final sprint. Then we'd hightail it out of town on the race course, which was still closed to car traffic. Fun times.

That was then. Now my son is a dad himself, and he lives in San Antonio. Hence my mulling.
