For a shift knob to safely work you would need the threads to be used strictly for retaining the knob and not to be subject to shear. I.e you would need the knob to apply force to the 15mm shaft and not to the threads. Thus the knob in question must be checked for dimensions that would allow the force to be applied to the 15mm shaft. please remember that the outer lever is 6061 t6 aluminium and not steel.
